Education: Intro to BMS Role

The BMS Department is anchored in, and administrated from, the newly refurbished classical buildings of the historical Phoenix Union High School. Ultra modern and state-of-the-art mediated classrooms, small group discussion rooms, faculty and administrative offices, an auditorium, simulation laboratories and student quarters, as well as a fabulous telemedicine/telehealth studio ensemble have all been created to serve as the medical student educational facility. Initially, 24 students will matriculate in August, 2007, and the class will grow progressively each year until the full capacity of 150 students/year is attained in 7-10 years. This growth will necessitate a comparable acceleration in faculty recruitment for BMS and in the construction of a second research building (ABC-2) as well as a large educational building. Initial Planning funds have been received for these latter two projects, which are expected to be completed within three to five years.
